Dog Tricks Training- Things to Consider
Dog tricks training can make your dog extremely popular among your
friends and family and bring you accolades. Dog training is not limited
to just making your dog famous but it teaches the dogs to be obedient to
you. The training that you give your dog can improve his behaviour and
agility. There are a few things to consider before you begin training
your dog like:
Dog’s breed

You can teach tricks to all kinds of dogs but the fact of the matter
remains that a few breeds have the capability and aptitude to learn more
dog tricks than the others. Poodles, St.Bernards, Great Danes and Fox
Terrier among others learn quickly and perform tricks effortlessly
within a short period of time. Similarly, Spaniels are very active and
love fetching and carrying things. Some breeds take a longer time to
learn but with patience and time, they prove their mettle.
Physical limitations
At the start of the dog training, you must remember that the physical
limitation of some breeds makes them incapable of executing some tricks.
The dogs that are taller find it difficult to stand on their hind legs
and dance at your command. You must figure out specific routines or
tricks for them that suit them, instead of exhausting them with your
attempts.

Begin young
Puppies are adorable, energetic and playful and this makes them ideal
candidates for training. Begin teaching your dogs, when they are young
since their playfulness makes them learn and execute your commands
enthusiastically. As the puppies grow, they become serious and sedate
which poses problems with teaching them to do things that require them
to take unnatural positions like sitting up, rolling over and dancing.
Pups find the tricks amusing and fun and this helps you to teach dog
tricks through play.
Don’t force
Forcing a pup or dog to do tricks can be successful sometimes but they
will be sulky and slow. Make the learning process interesting by
including fun games and improvising on the tricks. When the dog or pup
is trained to do tricks in a playful manner, he does it with a lot of
enthusiasm. The training sessions should have enough breaks and should
not be exhausting for the dog.
Patience

Some dogs learn quickly while others test your patience. Treat them with
love and be patient till they get the tricks right. You must understand
that you are teaching the dogs a new set of things which they do not do
naturally, so it does consume time. Don’t lose your temper and punish
them severely, if they don’t follow you immediately.
Pet and reward
Dogs follow your commands sincerely and do things you say, so you must
reciprocate their dedication by encouraging them and rewarding them for
their achievement, however small it is. After each successful execution
of dog tricks, you must reward your dog. Give food or small treats to
encourage and motivate them. Pet them with love and praise them, when
they do the tricks in a wonderful manner.
